Franchise FAQ

Everything you need to know.

We look for candidates with at least $300,000 in liquid capital and a net worth of $1 million or more. The total estimated investment to open a Nicola's ranges from $670,000 to $1.03 million, which includes the franchise fee, build-out, equipment, inventory, and working capital.

Typically 6 to 9 months from franchise agreement to grand opening. This includes site selection and lease negotiation (30–60 days), design and permitting (45–75 days), construction (70–90 days), equipment installation, staff hiring, and corporate training.

Yes — we prefer franchisees with restaurant, QSR, or multi-unit operating experience. This is a hands-on business. We want owners who will spend time in the four walls, understand P&L, and lead from the front. Corporate training covers the rest.

Ideal sites are 1,600–2,200 sq. ft. in grocery-anchored centers, lifestyle plazas, or dense urban corridors with 25,000+ daytime population within 3 miles. Endcap visibility, strong signage, drive-up pickup, and median household income of $65K+ are key criteria.

Absolutely. Multi-unit operators and franchise groups are a core part of our growth strategy. We offer area development agreements for operators who commit to opening a defined number of locations within a specific territory and timeframe.

Every franchisee receives a dedicated field operations coach, access to national marketing fund and local playbooks, ongoing training and certification refreshers, and negotiated vendor pricing through our supply chain program. You are never alone.

We charge a 5% royalty fee on gross sales and a 2% national marketing fund contribution. There are no hidden fees — everything is disclosed in the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) during the review process.

The owner completes 2 weeks of brand systems, P&L, scheduling, and local marketing. The GM trains for 3 weeks in full operations, line discipline, labor, and leadership. The Kitchen Manager trains for 2 weeks on prep, sauces, portioning, and food safety. Crew trains 5–7 days on the 6-step assembly line and guest experience.

Corporate provides a launch playbook that includes geo-targeted digital campaigns, local press outreach, influencer tastings, loyalty bonus programs, and catering kickoff strategies. We also supply signage, banners, and brand activation support.

A mature Year-2 unit targets $2.2M in AUV with approximately 24% store-level EBITDA (~$528K per unit). Cash-on-cash payback typically occurs within 28 to 36 months. Individual results vary by market, site, and operator execution.
